Winter

Illuminated cloud of sunshine
and light in white snow, the sight
of Ponderosa silhouetted on the ridge
and flutter of dead leaves in the oak.

What marvel of Winter in streaks
of sky and dusting of blowing snow,
clear curling ice clinging to the roof
then tumbling to the deck below.

Lest fog deceive and cold flurries
sting, the bad weather weaves
its patterns and drops its load,
a three day storm in February.
